Thirty-three years ago today, we lost these wonderful people on the Challenger Shuttle. If you are a teacher or homeschool parent of my generation, you remember exactly where you were when you heard the news. You may have been watching.
While a tragic loss, remembering these brave people is an excellent way to begin a discussion with your students about the purpose of space travel and the importance of scientific advancement. Why does the human race keep rising out of the ashes and trying again after such disasters? What do we stand to gain or learn? How have we advanced in the 33 years since the tragedy?
