This cartoon hit home for me this week as I discussed curriculum with my 2nd child, who is now taking dual enrollment college classes. I told her I was letting her 10th-grade sister take Astronomy this year and wait until Dual Enrollment to take Biology and Chemistry. She said, "WHAT?! You MADE me choose Biology or Chemistry!" Ah, and so it goes. Astronomy sounded like a lot more fun for me for this year!
Hallowe'en
And speaking of "fun," that big orange costume and candy day is looming around the corner! Many of us disagree on whether to celebrate Hallowe'en as harmless fun or whether to avoid it all together. If you are looking for some more information on the topic, we have a great lapbook for you to do with your kids that explores the history of Hallowe'en. This book teaches just the history so you can make a decision for yourself of what to do with the knowledge.

Kindle History Corner
Western civilization traces its roots to ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome, but as those cultures were developing around the Mediterranean Basin, some of the descendants of Noah had already trekked far Eastward. China has a long and rich history. This week, study the culture of the far East with our
Ancient China Lapbook and Dynasties of Ancient China Lapbook.
These lapbooks are on sale for $2.99 this week only!
Amazon Kindle has lots of books about ancient Chinese history. As always, these need to be reviewed by parents before children read them.
Finish your unit on Ancient China with a fun movie, like Disney's Mulan! Ask your kids what they have learned about ancient Chinese culture and what seems to be portrayed accurately in the movie. Talk about how folk stories can evolve over time, and stories based on truth can become a legend.
